Plus: a homeware brands sample sale, a beautifully designed book exploring the world’s most unique McDonald’s, and a wine recommendation for the week!

Hello!

We went to noreetuh in Manhattan this past Sunday and couldn’t say enough good things about the dinner. A $10 corkage fee, a wine list with one of the most comprehensive Riesling selections we’ve ever seen (we went with a staff recommendation of a 1997 Kerpen Wehlener Sonnenuhr that we never would’ve guessed was a 29-year-old bottle), Hawaiian food that made us realize something this good had been right in front of us the whole time, and hospitality from the staff that was wildly refreshing.

In today’s newsletter, we’re sharing something new: our first news report, which happens to cover one of the most respected wine importers adding a highly sought-after Piedmontese winemaker to their portfolio, along with an announcement from San Francisco Chronicle wine critic Esther Mobley that she’s moving back home to Boston to become the Boston Globe’s Food Editor.

Enjoy, and thanks for reading!

We first came across the wines of Elio Sandri a few years ago at Ristorante Giglio in Lucca and were immediately captivated by what we had. After returning to the States, tracking down the wines felt like a bit of a treasure hunt. They could occasionally be found at Chamber Street Wines in New York or Thatcher’s in California, but usually in very limited quantities, if they had any left at all.

We’re excited to report that the wines will now be imported by Rosenthal Wine Merchants, making Sandri’s bottles far more widely available across the United States. Read the full announcement here.

San Francisco Chronicle wine critic Esther Mobley is moving back to her hometown of Boston to become the food editor at the Boston Globe. Mobley spent more than a decade covering the California wine scene and has been a crucial voice for the industry. We hope to see her writing about wine again soon!
