Hello! Happy Friday, and thanks as always for being here. This week’s newsletter is brought to you by Vinosmith, the all-in-one platform connecting every corner of the wine trade, from producers to distributors to buyers. Their new Marketplace for the Trade brings it all together, giving licensed buyers a simple way to browse, order, and manage payments, while wineries, importers, and distributors can handle everything else behind the scenes, from allocations to analytics, in one clean, easy system.

You can find them this weekend in New York at Amber Georgia on Saturday and RAW WINE on Sunday and Monday if you’d like to meet their team in person and learn more!

This week, we’re sharing a few standout reads: Decanter’s story on Château Lafleur leaving the Bordeaux appellation system and one of our favorite SWURL articles on what Marcel Lapierre and Paul Cézanne had in common, a look at how wine and art have always shared a creative lineage.

Outside of that, there’s a packed lineup of things happening around New York: Aux Deux Amis is popping up at Babysips for a two-night dinner next weekend, three RAW WINE producers are taking over June Wine Bar this Sunday, and Win Son is teaming up with La Chope des Artistes for a five-course dinner curated by Clovis Ochin (seats are almost gone)!

Plus, two major wine fairs are taking place at Industry City this weekend (Amber Georgia and RAW WINE), Chambers St. just dropped a few bottles from one of our favorite winemakers, and Wine Enthusiast’s 24-bottle fridge is the perfect mini bottle fridge.

Top Pomerol wine estate quits Bordeaux appellation system on eve of harvest Matters, And Always Will

Château Lafleur has announced that, beginning with the 2025 vintage, it will no longer produce wines under the appellations of Pomerol and Bordeaux, instead designating all six of its labels as Vin de France.

What Marcel Lapierre & Paul Cézanne Had in Common

Wine and art have existed for thousands of years, deeply woven into human culture and history. From ancient cave paintings of winemaking to their presence in religious rituals, both have served as expressions of creativity and tradition. In this article we originally released earlier this year, Sophie Stuart, art historian and Sommelier, explores this connection through the parallel legacies of French winemaker Marcel Lapierre and post-Impressionist painter Paul Cézanne.

Aux Deux Amis at Babysips

Aux Deux Amis (not to be confused with the Deux Amis in Midtown East), is heading to Babysips on the Lower East Side for a special two-night dinner. It’s one of our favorite spots in Paris, and we can’t recommend this collaboration enough. Check out this video from a talented creator that perfectly captures the energy of Aux Deux Amis—it’s the next best thing to being there yourself.
