Prada Wine Glasses, Our Favorite Wines of the Year, & An Exciting New Wine Bar Opening
Plus: an article on Gen Z wine consumption and trends, a Paris-based food and wine pop-up taking over an LA wine bar for a week, our cartoon of the week, and more.
Hello! Happy Thursday!
This week, we’re sharing an article from Food & Wine that discusses Gen Z consumption trends and what they’re focused on, and we’re sharing 13 of our favorite wines from this past year.
Plus: a wine glass recommendation for that Prada-loving friend in your life, a bookstore to visit in the East Village of Manhattan that has a remarkable collection of vintage and out-of-print cookbooks that’s a treasure trove of finds, and much more.
A reminder that we also have our monthly wine bar pop-up at Win Son Bakery in the East Village tonight! Party kicks off at 6pm. A sneak peak at the bottle list below.
Enjoy! Thank you for reading!
This isn’t an article, just a highlight of a few wines we loved this past year and recently shared on Instagram. Plenty of bottles we enjoyed didn’t make the cut, and this isn’t meant to be a “best of” list. These are simply wines we had fun drinking and wanted to pass along.
Gen Z is drinking wine, just differently than the generations before them. What’s not much of a surprise is the focus on approachability and transparency with far less interest in scores or getting the language right. It’s not about reinventing wine, but about rethinking how it’s presented, talked about, and experienced in a way that feels natural and lived in.

Paris-based food and wine project founded by Carolina Ross and former Ukrainian basketball player turned chef Oleg Sarapulov is taking over Melody LA from December 17–22. We caught their pop-up in New York a few weeks ago and it was an exceptional experience. After chatting with Oleg, it sounds like they’ll also be in New York from December 26 through early March, so New York readers can expect a few pop-ups while they’re in town.
Dates: December 17th — 22nd
Time: 4:00pm start time
Where: Melody LA, 751 N. Virgil Avenue, Los Angeles, CA

Our beloved neighborhood wine bar, Anaïs, is throwing a holiday party with importer Venture Studios on Friday, December 19 from 8–12pm. They’ll be pouring a selection of red wines from Jura winemaker Les Valseuses.
Date: Friday, December 19th
Time: 8pm — 12pm
Where: Anais, 196 Bergen St, Brooklyn, NY 11217

“And for the holiday special, we have eight crazy flights.”
Other News & Other Stuff & Other Reads
A wine product we love & think you’ll love: Prada has wine glasses. And, yes, they are as expensive as you’d expect. But beautiful nonetheless.
The cookbook store we’re loving: It’s not a single book, but a longtime East Village shop that’s been around since 1997. Inside, you’ll find a wide range of vintage, out-of-print cookbooks. Great gifts for others, or for yourself because self-care is important.
Wine recommendation of the week: The 2015 Les Temps des Cerises “Avanti Popolo” will be available by the bottle tonight at our pop-up at Win Son Bakery in the East Village. Quantities are very limited.
Wine Bar Opening: The team behind Penny and Claud has opened a new East Village wine bar featuring 88 bottles priced under $88. We’re heading there this weekend and will report back.
