What Do French Winemakers & The Impressionists Have In Common?

Plus: a Swiss wine takeover, a library in Paris that we loved working at, and more.

Happy Thursday!

We’re writing this newsletter from inside the Mazarine Library in Paris, thanks to a recommendation from our friend Alice. If you find yourself in Paris needing a place to work, we can’t recommend it enough (all credit to Alice). It’s a beautiful place to spend a few hours within a historic library dating back to the 17th century, originally established as Cardinal Mazarin’s personal library.

In today’s newsletter, we’re sharing a recent article that explores the connection between Impressionist artists and French winemakers who have declassified their wines. It’s a topic that can feel a bit dense, so we approached it through a lens that makes it more accessible and easier to engage with.

Enjoy, and thanks for reading!

This article explores how sommeliers are grappling with the rising costs, forcing them to rethink how, and whether, they can still offer Burgundy on their lists.
